Who are we at Beautiful Black?

Welcome to our world of Beautiful Black Russian Terriers of Iowa owned by Kahla and G Johnson that began in 2008. Research and studies stirred our thoughts and desire for the involvement in this amazingly strong and forceful breed. We were "sold" upon the study of "who they were" and "what they stood for" and "whom they stood beside".

We wanted to experience this for ourselves and the fact that they are "RARE" made this adventure so exciting!

The desire to attain the stock with the pedigrees that carried the Siberian bloodlines became a priority for us as the basis of our stock selection for the breed as well as characteristics of the FCI standard, with a desirable temperament being ‘a sought for must’ to the future of Beautiful Black.

Once the endeavor began; we added two females from Cluj, Romania and later a male from Moscow, Russia; as we were very busy establishing the excellence by their earned honors of titles from AKC on the front and the back side of their honored name.

Next , at the appropriate time they each had xrays of hips, elbows and testing of eyes,patella and heart.

When we had our first litter, there were more health tests that evolved, and continued to learn more news which was not always ‘good’ news about the HU status of two of our three beloved foundation stock, Ugo, Anastasia, and Atlas.

We all have hard lessons in life sometimes, and we ‘learn lessons in life’. We made a vow after the passing of our beloved First Generation, that would make health the priority for all of our stock in the future.
